Competitions afford a performing opportunity in addition to their use as an instructional tool in dance. We give our students the opportunity to view the work of students from other schools and allow them to test their skills against some of the best dancers in the country. Competitions can help to develop a student’s poise, stage presence and self-esteem. 

We compete at both the Regional and National level each year.  We have won many awards including Overall High Scores, Choreography Awards, Entertainment Awards, Achievement Awards, Excellence Awards, Sportsmanship Awards, Special Awards, and Title Awards.

Competition Students can also participate in our Spotlight Program, which gives students in 1st grade and up the opportunity to compete in solos, duos, trios and small groups.

After the recital , we hold open auditions for next year's Competition Teams.

Students are chosen according to ability, age and experience.

At Heartbeat, we encourage school spirit, and although winning is fun, it isn’t everything. We stress the importance of good sportsmanship, team effort and perseverance toward a common goal.
